I Change Tires (ichangetire.com) is my personal website. I try to collect as little information as possible. This page explains what is collected, why, and what you can do about it.

Comments

When you leave a comment, the site stores:

  • the name you enter, which is shown with your comment
  • your email address, which is never shown publicly
  • your website, if you add one; your name is then shown as a link to it
  • your comment
  • your IP address and a short description of your browser and device, which WordPress stores with every comment to help detect spam

Every comment is read before it appears on the site.

To filter spam, comments are checked by Akismet, a service run by Automattic. Akismet receives the comment, the details above, and some technical information about the visit, such as the page address. You can read Akismet’s privacy information at https://akismet.com/privacy/.

Comments are kept until they are deleted. Comments marked as spam are deleted automatically.

View counts and visitor statistics

The site counts visits with Koko Analytics, which runs on this website’s own server. The information is not shared with anyone else. It records which pages are viewed and which website you came from, as daily totals.

The view count shown on each story is an estimate. It combines the counts the site recorded before November 7, 2026 with Koko Analytics’ count of daily visitors since then. A visitor is counted once per story per day.

Cookies

  • Visitor statistics: a cookie named _koko_analytics_pages_viewed remembers which pages you have viewed today, so you are counted once per page per day. It expires at midnight.
  • Comments: if you tick the box under the comment form, your name, email, and website are saved in your browser for about a year, so you don’t have to type them again.
  • Administrator login: used only by me when I sign in to manage the site.

The site does not use advertising or social media tracking cookies.

Other things to know

  • Fonts and images are served from this website. Visiting the site does not send your information to font or advertising services.
  • Comment profile pictures (avatars) are turned off, so your email address is not sent to an avatar service.
  • Like most websites, the hosting server keeps basic technical logs for security and troubleshooting.

Your choices

You can ask me for a copy of the comments you have left, or ask me to delete them. Write to privacy@ichangetire.com from the email address you used when commenting, so I can confirm the comments are yours.
